As at 25/10/22 Tangalooma Resort advised strip is serviceable and was slashed two weeks ago. PPR still required in writing and usually only given for guests - email reception@tangalooma.com.

As at March 2022 the Tangalooma strip is unserviceable for fixed wing ACFT for “the next couple of months”, according to one of the resort directors after I applied via email to get permission.

Just confirmed with the resort, now a $50 landing fee regardless of whether you have booked a night at the resort.
When getting permission, call, they usually send an email when you do where you must fill in questions about how many hours logged, type of aircraft, eta and booking number etc.
Then you have to wait for approval from the director/s which could take a few minutes or a few hours but usually you will have to follow up call them and push them (reception) to get in touch with the directors.
Bit of a process and the place is pricey (tourist prices). You have to pay $60 for a ride (one way) from the airport or walk 5km to save money. Would be nice if they streamlined this process and found a way to charge less but it is what it is

Resort advised that strip is closed to casual resort visitors, and permission will only be given to suitably experienced pilots who have an accommodation booking.

Sand based strip with light grass covering. Keep the nose up when landing as sand can be soft in spots. All circuits are to be carried out over the water. Parking is on Western side of runway near passenger terminal (tin shed!).
Frequent helicopter flights from Tangalooma Resort so be watchful flying around resort area. Air traffic normally goes in anti-clockwise direction around Moreton Island. Multicom frequency 126.7. Spoke to resort helicopter pilot who requested all pilots to please use this frequency & broadcast intentions.
Resort is fantastic. Taxi ride from airstrip to resort is $50 each way. Bit pricey but convenient for 5.5 km trip. Permission required from resort to land on airstrip.
Landing fees:
- overnight resort guests: free
- all others if landing is notified & pre-paid: $20
- if prior notice not given: $100
