Contact number for Hospital is 02 6540 2100, which is the switch. Ask to speak to the Hospital in-charge Nurse for helicopter notification and requirements. There is no pathway between the helipad and the hospital buildings, and a local ambulance is required to transport any stretchers, patients, etc. A NETS ambulance may come from Newcastle for NETS tasks. At night, the helipad lights are normally activated by local NSWA road staff because there may be no security available and only 4 staff manning the hospital who can't leave their wards. If a local ambulance crew is not available then the hospital may call in a maintenance staff member to activate the lights. This was my experience after a late night NETS task on 07/04/18.
